Knitting in Wedgwood Blue

Dear Diary,

Adam: Here is my latest attempt at knitting something for myself.  I still don't have a pattern so I'm really winging it here.

I took some measurements and did some calculations, cast-on and just started knitting. There was some 5 ply knitting wool around the house so I used that.  The stitch size is too large for my taste but it doesn't matter since this is just a trial and error project.

"I think it's a good fit."
I am reasonably satisfied with the finished garment, especially the colour.  I learned a few things, not the least that I can't knit continental and purl back English; it leaves slight ridges.
"The photo is a little blurry but you get the point."
I'm not giving up.  I will find a pattern for a proper fitting garment!

Dear Diary, Jesse :   About 25 years ago, in the age of paper books, I read a story about a famous woman and her boy doll.  I was totally taken with the story and I never forgot it.  In fact, it was to have a huge influence on my doll play and collecting. Berets for days

Dear Diary, I wear a beret because mein Vati wears one. Well, he has more than one: French, Basque, Italian, Spanish, Czech/Slovak.  The are all pretty much the same, some are smaller than others or are made of thicker fulled (felted) wool.  Berets are traditionally black but they do appear in colours from time to time.  Archeology has shown that hats similar to the beret were worn in the Bronze Age.  What we know today as the "French" and "Spanish" beret come from the south of France in the province of Béarn and the Basque country in Spain. Dolls & lizards?

Dear Diary, I found this young man, Raymond, a doll collector in Hawai'i.  He has a big collection of modern dolls to show us. I think he is a good role model for other young lads who are interested in dolls. He certainly is proud of his collection. I never knew about all these different modern dolls!
