True colors are beautiful

Dear Diary,
Jesse: We are in pain at the suffering inflicted on the people at the Pulse in Orlando.  The majority of those who were shot were LGBT - members of my own tribe.  Let there be no mistake: this was a hate crime against gay people.

I can't stop the song True Colors, sung by Cyndi Lauper, which keeps running through my head.  I want to share the lyrics here.

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
Its hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

True colours, like a rainbow

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

(Can't remember when I last saw you laughing)
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show

Your true colors
True colors
True colors
Shining through

I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Proudly showing true colours.

Keep your "thoughts and prayers"; they're killing us.  Do something tangible to effect change!  We will continue to speak out; our lives depend on it.

  1. A dreadful, dreadful event, but it has to be fought against, not merely prayed over.
For my dear friends, John and John, who lost their close friend there, and for you guys, too, I want to declare my open and loving support.

We are all human and there is only one thing that divides us, some are haters and others are not. Fortunately, I believe the latter group are in the majority but, until we reach a time when hatred is eliminated, regardless of how ever else we define ourselves as individuals we must stand together to say we do not accept the behaviour of haters and we will not bury our heads in the sand when we are not directly affected by their actions.
